Thanks to Paul Hesselgesser for making the arrangements. The Ferrari Club sponsored this event, so tickets were free to Members. We met by the will call windows at 7:00 pm to pick up our tickets. Sun, January 29, 2012 - Laps at LVMS - 9AM
Speedway Children’s Charities and Las Vegas Motor Speedway invited us to experience the thrill of driving our Ferraris on the 20 degree high banks of the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. We polished up our prancing horses and come out on Sunday, January 29th for a $30 donation to the Speedway Children's Charities. We felt the rush as you took to the high bank turns, stepped on the gas and took three laps around the 1.5 mile Super Speedway behind a pace vehicle. Some of us then took another 3 laps for an additional donation. We met at 9:00 AM at the Iron Griddle Restaurant for breakfast on I-15 at Speedway Blvd, Exit 54 just 10 miles north of Las Vegas. At 9:30 AM we left the restaurant parking lot for 10:00 AM entry to the race track and lined up together in the infield for the start.

Sun, Feb 19, 2012 - Ski Mt Charleston - 9AM
Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort was our meeting place for ski and snowboard fun. We met in the lodge at 9:00 AM. If you are not a skier, you can hang out in the cafeteria or cocktail lounge or out on the deck of the lodge. They have a very good rental shop and offer excellent instruction. If you have never skied before, they have an excellent bunny slope. There are three chair lifts including a slow chairlift servicing the bunny slope. From downtown Las Vegas: Take U.S. Highway 95 north approx. 30 miles to Hwy 156, Lee Canyon. Follow Hwy 156 17 miles to the resort. The highway ends at Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort. Unless there is a recent storm, the roads will be clear and you will be able to drive your Ferrari up to the top and park safely in the parking lot. Paul Hesselgesser arranged this event at 702-434-1230 or 702-682-8823 or email insurevegas@hotmail.com.

Sunday - March 11, 2012 - Valley of Fire - 9:00AM
This scenic drive to the Valley of Fire and lunch at Lake Las Vegas was enjoyed by the Ferrari, Porsche and Lotus Clubs. We enjoyed the scenic and majestic Valley of Fire and droveg through the newly paved winding roadways through the picturesque Lake Mead recreation Park to end our cruise with a delicious Mexican lunch at Sonrisa Grill inside Montelago Village at the beautiful Lake Las Vegas Resort. Daylight savings time began today, so we had to be sure to set our clocks ahead! We met at 9am at the Fiesta Henderson Casino - under the sign. This is at the crossroads of 215 and 515/93/95. From there we headed out to the lake on Lake Mead Drive. We went through the toll gate ($10) and took the first left to head north around the lake. Thanks to John Ratto at 702-454-7929 or RattoSnake@cox.net for planning this event.

Sat - March 17, 2012 - Dream Racing - 9:00AM
Dream Racing is one of three fantasy driving experiences you can have at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, but the only one that offers the visceral punch of staring at 12 Ferrari race cars all lined up in a row. We met at 9:00 AM at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, I-15 exit 95 and followed the Dream Racing signs inside the stadium to the Dream Racing Reception building. From the moment you enter the Dream Racing lounge in the Speedway Hospitality Building you realize this experience will be like no other.
The $499 experience includes a Video Classroom Session, Simulator Orientation of the actual 1.1 mile track you will be driving in 3D, and five laps on the Las Vegas Motor Speedway infield road course at speed in a F430 GT Racing Ferrari with coaching via intercom from a professional instructor seated to your right. In just split seconds you go from about 70 mph up to over 120 and back down to a 60 again before slamming into the next turn. The race-tuned Ferrari F430 GTs that Dream Racing has to offer feature cup car type air jacks, full race slicks, front splitters, diffusers and spoilers. Former Formula 3 champion Enrico (Rico) Bertaggia and Italian Superturismo Championship racer Adriano (Ado) de Micheli who have attended our F1 viewing parties are owners. Enrico directed the Ferrari school and became director of motorsport of Ferrari in the U.K.
Ado and Rico graciously offered us 30 minutes of track time in our own cars! FCA Members were allowed to drive the track in our own cars in lead-follow behind a professional race driver. That allowed us to judge the difference for ourselves between a street Ferrari and a Ferrari race car. Ferrari Club members and guests who did not wish to do the racing experience were invited to follow the group through the facility buildings and watch the orientation video and view the racing simulators in a grand tour that includes the hospitality building and Neon Garage.
Winner of the Raffle for the $499 Dream Racing Experience was Michael Obradovich. Mike and his wife Karen were at Laguna Beach for the weekend, but he will receive a gift certificate in the mail. Michael has a red 2006 F 430 and Karen owns a Porsche that we may see at upcoming PCA events. Mike has a deposit on a "FF" and plans to follow it up with a F12 Berlinetta when available. For more info about this incredible driving experience see www.dreamracing.com.

Thursday, May 24, 2012 - 9:00AM - Creech Show
Creech Airforce Base arranged for that potentially awesome one-of-a-kind picture that you can only get poised alongside one of their "birds". Their event "101 critical days of summer" will run 0900 to 1500, however they are not asking anyone to stay the whole time. We had the option to stay as long as you want. This is a military event used to promote safety throughout the months of summer with a car show to increase military morale and participation. Having a few of us attend would have a great impact on their event. Creech AFB is located 35-40 minutes north of Las Vegas, about 10 miles north of the state prison. The hangar facility they are using houses aircraft, so you can be confident there is adequate protection. They are extremely interested in just one or two rare supercars (such as one of our Ferraris). The rest of the car show would consist of the vehicles owned by the airmen, giving them an opportunity to be a part of the event. There will be food offered as well. They are only looking for a few attendees. If you are interested, please contact Jeff Wenger at 702-617-3300 or SSgt Bradley D. Whitehouse at 1292509800@nellis.af.mil.

Antonio, of Siena Italian Trattoria, has invited the Ferrari Club to his restaurant to watch the Formula 1 races (recorded so we can skip the commercials). The qualifying is shown at 9am and the race at 10am. Please check back to confirm the times. The restaurant is located at 9500 W. Sahara Avenue, just west of Ft Apache. Everyone is welcome. Watch the race, have some breakfast, and cheer on your favorite driver. There will be reserved parking in the front of the restaurant. For more information contact Antonio Accornero at (201) 360-3358 or (213) 280-4215.
