The Annual Christmas Toy Run is sponsored each year by the non-profit Las Vegas Cruisin' Association. This is a chance for all car clubs to be charitable to underpriviledged children. From there we followed Santa's sleigh to Robert Taylor Elementary School, 144 Westminster Way (off North Major Ave), Henderson, NV 89015. We parked together and brought our toys inside where Santa handed them out at noon to all the underpriviledged kids at the school. There are many deserving children, and we had an excellent turnout considering all the other toy drives we participated in that preceded this one. Many thanks to everyone who participated! They met at the Iron Skillet (LV Speedway) I-15 at Speedway Blvd, Exit 54 and departed at 9am. They arrived at Zions at about 3:30pm. Time for a rest, a snack and some sight seeing before leaving for home - 2.5 to 3 hours. Thursday - March 20 - Le Golosita – 6:30 PM
Le Golosita, 9500 S Eastern Ave, Henderson, NV 89052 (702) 216-4080 was the site of our 3rd social of the year, a charming Italian restaurant with daily specials and fresh pasta. All the food is made in house including a wide assortment of baked goods including traditional Italian cookies and pastries that are on display. Half of the shop is bakery, gelato, and prepared foods counters. They brought over a man from Italy who makes fresh gelato. This wonderful new restaurant in Henderson is located two doors down from Motorcars of Las Vegas in the same strip mall. See the pics...

Sat - March 15, 2008 - 9:00PM - Australian F1
The Australian Grand Prix was our first Formula One race party of the season at Albert Park. We watched it on the big screen in the back room of the The Big Inning Sports Pub at 7777 W Sahara Avenue on the SE corner of Buffalo (702) 255-8708, open 24/7. Good food & drinks, big screen TVs and a casual atmosphere always make this a fun event. So many cars were disabled and crashed, there were only a handful left by the finish of the race. Last year Kimi Raikkonen won this race. This time it was won by Hamilton. See the pics...

Sat - March 15, 2008 - Hooters at Sunset Station
Hooters Party with Girls, Wings'n Things! The “delightfully tacky, yet unrefined” sports bar and grill features “nearly world famous wings,” shrimp and oyster roasts. We met at 1:00 at Sunset Station Hotel and Casino, 1301 W. Sunset Rd, Henderson, NV 89014 (702) 547-7777 at the Sunset Exit for 93/95/515 which is just north of 215. Hooters is located in Sunset Station on the casino floor next to the Race & Sports Arena. There was parking roped off out front for our cars. Some of us sat out on the patio overlooking our reserved parking area, and the rest of us sat just inside. We enjoyed lunch and drinks served by our beautiful waitresses who then offered to pose by our cars. We invited the Lotus Club and Cobra Club to join us and were very pleased to have such a big turnout. See the pics...

Sun - Feb 24, 2008 - Death Valley - 8:45AM
The Porsche Club invited us to join them for a one-day drive to Death Valley for brunch at Furnace Creek Inn driving via the scenic and fun switchback route. We met at 8:45 am at the last gas station on the way to Pahrump where Routes 159 and 160 (Blue Diamond) intersect. Gas is very expensive in Death Valley and along the way, so we filled up here. We departed at 9 am sharp. We took 160 toward Pahrump; turning left before Pahrump onto the Old Spanish Trail Highway through the switchbacks and through Tecopa. Turned right onto Route 127 north into Shoshone for a restroom break. Turned left on Route 178 (Badwater Road) into Death Valley. Stopped at Badwater Basin (the lowest elevation in the US) for a picture. Turned right onto Artist Drive thru some beautiful scenery. We had 12:45 reservations at Furnace Creek Inn for brunch. Aprox $25.00 a person payable to the Inn included a 15% tip. We then took a different route back to Las Vegas. Thanks to Robert Douglas for the pics. See the pics...

Sat - Feb 23 - Penske-Wynn Tech Session
The Tech Session at Penske-Wynn Ferrari/Maserati started early Saturday morning at 8:30 AM. Those that arrived at the front entrance were directed to secure parking. Penske-Wynn Ferrari/Maserati, located at the spectacular Wynn Las Vegas resort located in the heart of The Strip hosted the event for us. The topic was how to prepare your Ferrari for Track Driving. The day started with coffee, bagels and donuts. For those of us who put our Ferrari models on the hoist for inspection, the dealership provided us with nitrogen inflation for our tires. This event has always been well attended in the past and this year was no exception. After the event, we drove to Bahama Breeze at the corner of East Flamingo and Paradise for lunch. We then drove together over to Oz and Jeanne's home for dessert, wine, and beer. Oz has a remarkable collection of automobiles. See the pics...

The Fiesta Hotel and Casino, 777 W. Lake Mead Pkwy, Henderson (215 and 95) was the starting point of our Saturday morning outing. Ferrari owners with an appreciation for Vipers joined us out front as we met up with the Viper Club for a drive out to Boulder City and then Hoover Dam. We met at the Fiesta parking lot in Henderson at 9am. Then we drove to Boulder City for breakfast at the "Two Gals from Cal" Restaurant. We then continued over the Hoover Dam for another 10 or 15 miles to a scenic overlook. Sat - Feb 2, 2008 - Racetrack & Winery
The Pahrump Valley Winery Restaurant was the destination of our drive to Pahrump with a stop at the track and then a 4 star luncheon at the Winery. Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch is along the way, and we took the opportunity to to see some of the new buildings and new improvements. Donna Hammontree and Dave Petrie answered our questions and then arranged for us to take a few laps around the full racetrack. Whether some of us had ever been on a racetrack before or not, it was a very exciting event! We met out on Blue Diamond Road (Route 160) at the last gas station on the way to Pahrump at the intersection of Route 159 and left at 10:00 with the stop at the track at 11:00. We arrived at the Winery by noon and ordered off the menu in the main dining room. See the pics...
