Nellis Air Force Base invited the Ferrari Club to bring our exotics to their 2nd Annual Auto Show, Autocross and Shootout featuring a unique opportunity to race an F15 fighter jet. The venue was a huge morale boost for families and Airmen again this year. The car show was a continuous two day event on Saturday, September 29th and Sunday the 30th. This year's organizers extended a special invitation to FCA members to bring their exotics to the Car Show and dial up the competition for 1/2 and 1 mile high speed shootouts for "fastest car" trophies on Sunday September 30th. Participation in events was a la carte. The Autocross was held on the 29th. Current FCA members whose exotic cars possess factory safety equipment (integral roll over protection, Z rated tires) and drivers with track experience and safety gear were invited to do the shootout, and FCA Treasurer Paul Hesselgesser took on the challenge of racing the jet in his Jaguar XJR15. We had to adhere to the event organizers rule (SCCA) rules. To access the base and car events we needed to register in advance. Many thanks to Paul Johnson 702-371-8081 and DeShawn Shaw 702-275-4388 for organizing this great event. For a photo of your car next to the fighter jet please contact Raza Karim or Rob Hatrak. |
